We’ve outlined a selection of key takeaways from our induction guide to get you started, or download the full guide here.

    • Have a plan for how you’re going to start your day with the children. Be prepared for some tears or anxiety (hopefully not yours!)
Distraction is the best tool you have at your disposal so have a fun activity prepared that will distract them from their parents leaving in case you need it!

    • Write down any questions you might have for the family so you don’t forget to ask them.

    • Check if there’s anything specific the parents would like you to complete that day.

  • There is so much to learn in a new Nannying role. There’s the most important thing; the children (obvs) but then there’s a million other little things about the family, routine, house and not mention appliances!
We really recommend taking a little notebook along with you for the first few weeks and noting down all the little things it’s hard to remember, such as…. what day is bin day, how to work the washing machine, screentime rules and so on!

We provide an Important Information Template to the family with their Induction Guide. This covers all the essential topics worthy of discussion and helpful information we hope can be written down for you; if you’d like us to print you a copy, give your consultant a shout!

    - Playdates and weekly activities
    - Behaviour management
    - Driving tour of the local area
    - Technology
    - Food & nutrition

    OUR NANNY NETWORK:

When you’re placed in a role through Kindred, you’ll be invited to our exclusive WhatsApp group — a warm, supportive community of Kindred nannies working across London. It’s a great space to meet other nannies, share advice, ask questions, and organise nanny meet-ups both in and outside of work. While Kindred staff occasionally post about upcoming events, the groups are run by nannies themselves, with Kindred Ambassadors — experienced local nannies — acting as group admins. They’re a fantastic point of contact for confidential advice or any general questions about settling into your new role or area.
